I’m walking in the Generations in Motion Walk & Picnic with Team Meche, named in honor of my grandmother from Mexico who lived with dementia. Dementia has touched my family deeply. My grandmother Meche and my Tía Marta both lived with dementia before they passed away, and my mom is now in year eight of her journey with the disease. Like many families, we’ve experienced the love, heartbreak, and challenges that come with memory loss. This walk is personal. It’s about honoring my family, supporting caregivers, and standing with families in our community navigating dementia and aging with dignity. I’m proud to support the Council on Aging, whose work helps seniors and families across Sonoma County access the services and support they deserve.
